What is the best way to convert quicktime videos to a format this website accepts? Preferable free

I have been messing with this for a while.

I used the VLC media player to do it yesterday and it uploaded successfully.

Here is a page that talks about .mov file problems, and has a solution at the bottom

You can also use MP4Cam2AVI to losslessly transcode a .mov file.

I played around with this some more today. and you can't use the MP4Cam2AVI program to convert to a file that windows movie maker can use. Dang.

But if you Convert with VLC and use the WMV+WMA setting, name the file to somemovie.wmv then you can edit it in windows movie maker.
